LASER HAIR REMOVAL

THE MECHANISM OF ACTION

The mechanism of laser light is based on the local, precise heating and destruction of the elements of the hair bulb (stained with melanin) without any harmful effect on the remaining skin cells. Damage to the root results in the removal of the hair permanently. Hair grows in 3 different phases. Only part of the hair in the growing phase (anagen) reacts to laser light. The remaining hair is in a “dormant” phase (katagenie and telogenie) which lasts from 5 to 12 weeks. After this period, the active stage of new hair growth begins, therefore the treatments must be repeated about five times. Dark and thick hair is the easiest to remove. Bright and delicate, they need more treatments.

BEFORE THE TREATMENT

The first treatment is preceded by a professional consultation. 2-3 days before the procedure, the skin should be shaved, and before the procedure, it should be washed and not smeared with anything. After sunbathing, the treatment can be performed only after the fresh tan subsides, min. 2-week break. Hair should not be pulled out at least 4 weeks before the procedure. Depilatory creams must not be used 1 week before the treatment. It is also not allowed to use: sun-sensitizing drugs (e.g. antibiotics – the treatment can be performed at the earliest one week after the end of treatment), St. John’s wort, calendula, cosmetics and exfoliating drugs (at least 1 week before the procedure), creams containing retinol, isotretinoin, acids fruity, vit. C etc. min. 1 month before surgery, a slimming tea (eg, Figure 2).

CONTRAINDICATIONS

pregnancy, diabetes, epilepsy (epilepsy), keloids vitiligo, psoriasis, high susceptibility to skin discoloration, taking photosensitizing drugs, retinoids, taking medications that reduce blood clotting (anticoagulants), drinking herbs (St. John’s wort, calendula – stop consuming 2-3 weeks before the procedure), using a cream with retinol (use should be discontinued 3 weeks before the procedure), fresh tan (also solarium and self-tanning – 2 weeks), epilation with wax and tweezers (use should be discontinued 1 month before the procedure), peeling (use should be discontinued 1 week before the procedure), hair color (gray and red hair do not react to laser light).

Treatments should be repeated every 4-12 weeks (depending on the part of the body and individual characteristics). You must not sunbathe for at least 2 weeks after the treatment.
